Let me start with some questions most people ask when they first hear about Reiki (pronounced ray-key).
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a holistic form of Japanese Healing which is administered by the gentle laying on of hands (or hand off if treating burn victims or other sensitive areas). Through this process, Reiki can help restore Balance & Harmony between Mind, Body & Spirit, by re-vitalising the patient's own ability to heal themselves. (Reiki is completely safe and can be used on everyone including animals.) Reiki was rediscovered in the early 1900’s by Dr Mikao Usui (Usui Sensei) in Japan and is now widely used around the globe.
What does Reiki mean?
The word Reiki broken down in to "Rei" and "Ki" means "Universal" and "Life energy" according to most translations of the Reiki symbols (left). Reiki energy is a bit like oxygen or gravity in the sense that we can't see the energies, but we can feel their benefits.
Being a Reiki Practitioner enables me to channel the energy to a client/patient which then can help sustain or replenish Physical, Mental or Emotional wellbeing.
How can Reiki help?
Reiki helps to relax, re-vitalise & re-energise to enable the self healing process to begin. It is a non intrusive form of Healing given in a tranquil setting, recipients are not required to remove any clothing apart from shoes.
Reiki can help calm emotional/psychological stress and aid the physical body on the path to recovery.
Reiki can be used as an alternate form of healing or used in conjunction with Orthodox treatments and Complementary Therapies. Reiki has also been proven to accelerate recovery after surgical procedures and help with medication side effects.
